The inspiration for The Maine Bath came about on one of those perfect, sunny, 85 degree, summer days at the beach in Ogunquit. Relaxing in a sparkling pool carved by the tide and warmed by the sun, I realized I hadn't made it through a Maine winter in 15 years without a midwinter trip to the Caribbean.
Wondering why, it dawned on me that my mother's Irish friend Bridget had told me that her mother had always taken their family to the ocean when the seaweed broke up and released its essence. She attributed her family's health and longevity to this yearly routine. So perhaps a seaweed bath might replicate the tide pool experience and provide the necessary nutrients to get me through the winter.
Once I began to take my Ocean Essence seaweed baths on a regular basis, I not only survived, I actually enjoyed the winter. It occurred to me that others might enjoy the bath's benefits. Thus, The Maine Bath was born.
Many wonderful people helped make my idea into a reality. Test marketing results of the Ocean Essence blend indicated people noticed softer skin, felt noticeably stronger and seemed much more tolerant of the cold weather.
When I'm not in my bathtub or at the beach, I teach Reiki, dabble in Feng Shui, practice Qigong and travel anytime the opportunity presents itself. I live in Portland, Maine, which by the way is a nice place to visit, especially in the summer.
